Collection contains transcripts and 5 hours of audiotaped interviews with Beard, conducted by Auburn University assistant archivist David Rosenblatt. Beard discusses his life in Greensboro, Ala. and his career at Auburn. Collection contains biographical material, 1960 Gator Bowl program, Beard's scrapbook, program and Beta videotape of dedication of Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum in 1994, and eulogy at Beard funeral delivered by Athletic Director David Housel in 1995.

East Alabama Male College, sponsored by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, was chartered in May 1856. Classes opened in 1859 in Auburn, Alabama, but the college closed during the Civil War.
